You couldn't pay me to use a dell.... I had a $3500 Dell m1710 XPS(their top of the line at the time) that limped it's way out of the warranty period with Dell basically sitting on their thumbs claiming they didn't know what the error codes meant. Then when I found the cause of the problem(combined poor design by the dell and Nvidia = overheating) they said they had no knowledge of the m1710s having this problem despite their own support forums being flooded by pissed-off owners.

Funny thing is the m1720(next year model),was just a re-badge with few minor tweaks(same GFX card) had a recall for the GFX card overheating.

My HP, that replaced the dell, works great.

I hate their printers, I hate their laptops, their desktops seem to be ok. I have a damn officejet printer that I bought early last year, damn thing is broke now too.
I can't speak for dell's peripherals - I have no experience with them. We've got a HP multi-function printer that's 2-3 yrs old here at the office - never had any problems.

I also give a thumbs up to Acer, ASUS and Fujitsu. I've got several freinds with their products with little to no complaints. My Dad has a Sony Vaio that works great, but you'll overpay for the Sony name.

My Dell printer will say it's low on ink after printing about 50 pages, funny thing is though that it'll print another 500 or so with the same warning. Obviously printer cartridges are a profit center for them, they can't make much on a $99 all in one.

My Dell laptop was fine for 4 years but was only used for travelling. I replaced it because someone needed a good laptop for datalogging/tuning on their dyno. It's being abused daily now and is holding up better than the Thinkpad it replaced with the broken screen, which lasted for probably a year. Considering the abuse a dyno puts on a laptop that Thinkpad was awesome!

I bought my Toshiba from Sears but had them price match Wal-Mart, beat the price plus 10%.
