  • New XBox 360 Kinect... Green light no power?!? WTF?

Kids got an XBox 360 for Xmas and played it most of yesterday. Now, when we wake up this morning the flip'n thing doesn't turn on. The green power light comes on and the console "chimes" but that's it! When I hit the "eject" button it chimes and green light but doesn't open the door. (Halo REACH is still in there!! Best Buy purchase, I REALLY don't want to go there today! Any help is GREATLY appreciated. (When I figure this out who's up for some online gaming?!?!)

best bet is just take it back to any best buy. they'll test it and see that it doesn't work and give you a new one. Best thing to do is get that black tie protection, and then you have more than just the crappy manufacturer's warranty. when you do so make sure you take everything that came with the console (in the box) since they have to have everything to send back and can't just swap the console.
it'd be a real pain in the ass to get up there and find that you're missing something that came with it and have to go back home.

      Treat it like a computer.
unplug the power. hold the power button in a few seconds, then try powering it on again.

After that, if no workie, to best buy you go!

Yeah, I've done all the "normal" PC style stuff. (I support PC's and OS's for a living, thus my frustration.)

More info... the power supply glows amber until I try to power on or eject, and then it simply flashes green for a second.

This sucks..... Halo was great fun!!!

Took it back and with no questions got a new one. I mean NO questions. That says something to me about the number and likelihood of a product being returned. However, this did give me the opportunity to educate myself on the possible importance of keeping these things cool. I'm going to start a new thread on just that subject. I doubt it will go very far but at least I'll get an idea of the DFWM.net community's consensus. Thanks for the input!
