To an area that does not have fios. I will be forced to use TW Wideband. My issue is that they will be charging me for their modem. Will I be better off buying a docsis 3.0 unit instead of renting their own, or are they proprietary?

Don't use their fucking modem. I don't know what the issue has been, but both times I've had TW, I've had to reset the modem daily.

Fuck Time Warner, but if they're your only choice then fuck their equipment.

I would go with Uverse before I went with TW. Fuck those commie bastards. They didn't turn off service to my old apartment for 3 months and tried to tell me I owe them $435 for a service I wasn't using after I had called to have it shut off. I had returned their equipment but some how I'm using their service. I got a call 3 months after I moved from their collections department. Went up there in person and showed them the lease but they claim "I could easily be renting 2 properties" why the fuck would you have 2 places less that 5 miles from each other.


Sorry for the rant lol. Don't give those asshats money go with Uverse all my friends that have it are loving it but I get Fios so I don't need it.

i would go uverse over tw, i am in homes that have both and the tw homes are always having issues. hell i can't even use my friends wifi cause he doesn't know the password. the tech wrote it down on a small ass slip of paper and my buddy lost it. sure it's my buddies fault in the end but so far he has tried 3 times to call and get the password but after waiting for over half an hour each time he says fuck it and hangs up

I'm going with the wide band. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't that faster than the capped u-verse? I'd like to keep a similar speed to my current FIOS, and not downgrade.

Other than the bill, I love my twc. I pay for 10mb and I get 30mb almost all the time. I do rent the modem, but I burn up about one per year, so it ends up cheaper.

I have U-Verse where I live and it is great. We just use them for internet as well. We have Direct TV and then use cell phones. I would get the U-verse.
