And as you Kauf, do like everyone else and just play hardcore. I play nothing BUT that. I'm already 4th prestige and haven't played since the WoW expac came out.

Good god on the Goldeneye talk. I used to have to put my handicap all the way down and my friends all the way up just for them to play me. Oddjob was the shit, and one of the soldier classes that were really fast were a guaranteed way to victory. Grenade launchers FTW."Any dog under 50lbs is a cat and cats are pointless." - Ron Swanson

Golden eye was the shit. I wasted alot of hours watching my little piece of screen for multiplayer.
I enjoy playing fps if i can get in with a group of people who actually play the game. I always make a good medic,as im not the best shot in the world but i also dont care about my k/d ratio. Im all for completing the mission and keeping the good guys alive.
The run and gun stuff gets old quick, but it really is good to brush up on the reflexes.

I still feel like TF2 is about the apex in terms of variety and long term interest. However, reality can go to hell in that game.
I didn't pick up Black Ops until recently. The MP reminds me of when CS went Source. All the weapons got dumbed down and blanded. Makes me miss beta where it actually took skill to hit someone with an AK at long range.
I should mention that there are some great mods out there that ramp up the realism. Project Reality has been a FANTASTIC mod for Battlefield and has a very strong following. Second to that, Insurgency is a pretty good realism mod for the Source engine with a slightly smaller following.
Don't expect anything like R6 in the insanely popular games. The mass population doesn't have the patience for slow movement into an undetected spot, let alone learning to play a difficult game.
Why do you think flight sims aren't near as popular as modern FPS? Patience. Who wants to fly for 45 minutes to drop a bomb then fly 45 minutes back? Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy flight simming...but I'm talking about a majority of buyers.
Jesus, what an aside.

Man, R6 was my first online FPS, too. I loved it!
After wife & kids though, I don't have time to give the ol' reflexes a workout and get good at FPS' anymore. Online, I get ganked so many times by foul-mouthed pre-teens its just not fun. I'll play FPS for the single player, and if there's a co-op, with some buds that I know that have it.
I still love RTS, because I can think my way through the game 95% of the time against those same pre-teens. (Though, I will say SC2 is more a spam-fest...FPS of the RTS world...more reflex than strategy).
I'm still playing Company of Heroes where you can actually flank, use cover to your advantage and set ambushes.
Damn...and I miss my simulations. Miss you Microprose!!!Last edited by GhostTX; 12-27-2010, 01:42 PM."Self-government won't work without self-discipline." - Paul Harvey
