Droid Custom ROM Questions (Features not how-to))

Droid Bionic via Verizon

So, I used Titanium to completely un-install several things awhile ago and now the almighty OTA updates are failing. I really have no desire to troubleshoot this, since it pisses me off on principle that without bloatware - I can't get the OTA.

Let me rephrase, I'm 90% confident that's the problem.

Either way, I am going to begin looking at custom ROMs and trying to figure out what works best.

My question is mainly around corp sync. Since I started using a Droid (Droid X) a lot of my friends had to get Touchdown for corp email/address book...etc purposes. I've just used a widget. Do the custom ROMs do good at this or should I prepare to use Touchdown?

Any other gotchas to keep in mind?

I believe that you can find ICS now with everything working but the camera.

the reason you cant get ota anymore is, i think, when you use a root exploit it makes it so ota wont work some how. that's what i found out from over the years of android. i always just waited till the devs got the update and made a new patch or rom out of it.

As I understand it, root does not directly have much to do with it. Been rooted for years now, but I got pissed one night and uninstalled a few things (stock on the phone) and that's what did it. Everything else was frozen, but I can't remember what I uninstalled (and don't really care to remember)...just need to do a custom and be done.
