    Computer OS rebuild help..

    I have a box that has been sitting for several (ie 3-4 years) that is brand new and virtually unused. It was bought for my son for his birthday, but it was in the narrow window of this shittiest OS published - Vista Home Edition. None of the games my son has is compatible, hence it's never used.

    I've tried a few times to load XP or the like over it but times have changed since I had any technical inclination.

    Is there anyone on the board that can assist with wiping this thing clean and loading a new (current) OS like XP or better, along with an Office suite of sorts?

    What games is he trying to play?

    Your best bet would be a copy of Windows 7 Home edition. It is highly compatible.

      Don't know, exactly what games. He asked if I would change OS for him, and I had a copy of XP Pro that I tried to load on it and was given the message that I can't downgrade an OS.

      Guess I need someone that has the hook up on a new OS, cause I'm damn sure not paying a shit ton for it.
