Just going to interject with this, but my HTC Titan running WP7 has been running flawlessly for a year now. I think the OS is entirely underrated so long as you don't want Android levels of fiddling ability and works far better as a minimalist/simple OS than does iOS.

I would hope WP7 is leaps and bounds better than WP6.5?
I have a Motorola ES400 running 6.5 as my work phone and it is the biggest piece of shit I've ever been stuck with. Fucking awful in every conceivable way.- Darrell

My MacBook Air and iPhone 4 do everything I need them to do. Why people get so up in arms over what they perceive to be "better" than products other people like to use, I'll never understand. I'm jealous of the free time people dedicate to telling others that their personal opinion is wrong.

If they wouldn't just abandon the phones with that software I think more people would buy them. Customers are always scared of buying something and having it become obsolete in a year or two, that's probably why I sell maybe 1 Windows phone for every 20 or 30 Android phones I sell. The wp7 phones are super easy to use, some of the menus are hard to figure out at times and they're a pain in the ass to transfer contacts to a lot of the times, but other than that they work well.

i was happy with my iphone i only upgraded for 4g. which i rarely have. when i do its great. but this phone loses service more than women lose keys. if the new iphone is 4g im going back to apple
I have been seriously thinking about trying out the new iphone if 4g. Ive never had one or messed with one, but from what everybody says, its a really nice polished OS. The thing i hate about android is that there are so many freaking versions, on every different phone, and if an app isnt compatible with your version, your phone locks up and runs like shit. I hate having my phone lock up on me everyday , when it comes to even the simplest task. Does the iOS run smoothly in this aspect and not lock up or force re starts on your phone to get it running again?2002 4.6L 5spd S281

That said, I think the rest of what you said is pretty much spot on. It's somewhat frustrating that my phone won't be able to update, but I think it's still better than what Apple does with forcing upgrades onto devices that really can't handle the increased demands of newer versions of iOS.

I did have an HTC hd7 for about a week. It managed to get stolen at work by a customer when I left it on the counter to go in the back to get something. I wasn't even mad that it got stolen to be honest.
