I laughed when I read that a lot of parts like RAM and the SSD's where glued in. WTF!!

I can understand the battery not being user swappable, cell phone manufacturers are doing that as well to squeeze the most of the space available but not allowing the user to swap out memory and HD's makes it seem like a profit move to force the customer to buy the upgrades from the manufacturer. Not cool.

It forces the consumer to buy their damn warranties, Apple Care is a ripoff and turns an already expensive product into a VERY expensive product. I want a MBP because it is so solidly built, they are great machines. Everyone knows the items that wear out first are ram and hard drives, very easy and cheap to fix yourself... I would never consider buying one of these now.

I was thinking about a MB Air but may consider one of the new Ultrabooks now. I like the Mac OS but it's getting more and more expensive to like it.

              Apple, me la pela!

I never bought into the hype, before I bought my DroidX I played around with the Apple phone and the one constant was the battery going dead after about an hour of playing a game or being on the internetz. That and if you wanted more memory you had to pay more. I went ahead and bought a X and have been very happy. I get tired of bitches wanting to hook up to my laptop or car to charge their shit!
The laptops are very expensive too and I almost bought a AIR but decided to buy a Dell, for the same money (cheaper actually) I got hooked up with touch screen, Core i7, lots of memory and a huge hardrive, more than I will ever need.

Picking nits but.... That's not what really happened. IBM didn't think the Personal Computer was really going to take off and therefore gave the plans away. Couple that w/ "right place/right time" for Bill Gates and a cheap OS+Hardware = lucky success. IBM didn't make "the right" move, it got very lucky. Or unlucky, depending upon your point of view.

I think you guys are overestimating googles abilities. They have a lot of failures in the last 5 years and content providing is how companies in the future will make money. Google is one of their main competitors.

Apple is making a smart move to futureproof its assets, and they will probably continue to do some innovated shit BEFORE the competition.

You're right, I forgot about that portion. But, the facts still remain in regards to open platforms and proprietary.

Apple used to be open hardware back in the mid 90's, you were allowed to clone their PC's, but it flopped and caused a lot of problems ( particular from the support side ), as well it started eating into their profit because people were selling better, faster, stronger systems for cheaper.

It may sound anti linux of me, but I support their proprietary ideas and concepts to a degree, Linux ( and googles ) failing sometimes is how widesread and open source an item is. It is so much cleaner whenever there is one entity controlling all aspects of some items, specifically in the consumer market.

Just because you come up with the idea first does not mean it'll be implemented properly.

There are advantages or a proprietary system of course. I agree with that. However, there are disadvantages also. I find Android to be better suited for what I like. Same for PC's over macs.

I totally agree and feel the same, but we are power users for the most part. I love that I can give an Apple device to someone that doesn't understand what the difference between a CPU and Memory is and they have no problems mastering it. The user experience is so much cleaner for everyday users and that is how it should be.

Or a more crude way to put it is dumbed down for the masses.
