Alright well i got it all done . Thanks a million everyone for all the help . Looks like he set me back to version 2.3.3 instead of 2.3.5. The problem is solved . But this leaves me curious . Is he saying that i should not upgrade again to 2.3.5 ? Cause maybe ill get that same glitch

I ask cause just my luck 2.3.5 is when they fixed the bluetooth bug lol . But hey at least ill still be upgraded from 2.2 to 2.3 and looking at the wiki there are a lot of oth r improvements as well

You could also, from a pc, dl and install palringo then search for and join "thefamilyroom" for support.

I have an AT&t phone. Att calls the captivate the galaxy s for some reason . MAybe that is why the kernal numbers are different . but ok i reflashed .Under the about phone it says

                MODEL NUMBER: SAMSUNG SGH-I897

                FIRMWARE VERSION: 2.3.3

                BASEBAND VERSION: I897UCKF1

                KERNAL VERSION: 2.6.35.7-I897UCKF1-CL273832

                BUILD NUMBER: GINGERBREAD UCKF1

Which seems a little odd cause weren't we supposed to be flashing UCKK4 ? Found this page :

One AT&T version of the Galaxy S is the Captivate. For Sprint it had a different name, for Verizon a different name, etc...

So i guess the only thing that matters would be the SGH-I897 . Seem like that would be the same across the board since its samsungs model no. Also i went back and fixed my last post before this . my phone model is in fact a SGH-I897

Here's a link for kk4. Sorry I wasn't able to get back to ya yesterday, I was hammered at work and didn't get home till almost 8. Do a factory reset prior to flashing this and flash just like you did the previous time. I'm looking for root instructions atm.

Ok thanks much . Dont worry about when you got back to me im just glad for any help . But i do find it weird that there are different instructions fo rthe same phone . For root . That seems odd . But i know its true cause they were talking about it on a lot of different forum

Oh and i thought of somethig else . Do you think its cause we flashed the wrong stuff and/or used the wrong root ? For the reason it was just restarting over and over again . It seems like the android kernal would be kind of universal . At least in some ways .

I've seen a number of new captivate owners who seem to have issues obtaining root or CWM on their phones for the first time. I wrote this batch file to help them get over those first hurdles with a helping hand. I am not a programmer (as you...

Do you know how exactly to run that thing batch file ? I am not real sure what they mean there . It looks like they are saying to plug that thing into Odin and reflash ?
