I don't know if you can consider it an adventure game but the Carmen San Diego game from the early 90's was awesome. Of course the Oregon Trail series was the shit, too.

I dled indiana jones tonight. This game will take forever if you dont get back into the mindset of games back then. You have to look under every rock or check it three times before you figure it out.
I just always liked these games over rpg games. I liked those as well. Once i finish indiana im going to play monkey island again.
Seemed like an adventure to me. Go here, kill Kilrathi, talk to so and so etc etc.

Trying to remember the game name... "Corporate wars" I think made by Bullfrog it was a top down where you controled up to 5 guys and you basically went around gunning down civilians and enemy corp clones. You could pick up their weapons and stuff...and boost attributes like speed.
I loved me some Monkey Island, heck I even have the iPhone versions of the first two. But I am glad that I never have to deal with "You can't do that here." "You can't pick that up."
