Should be fine for what you want, but yeah, I would expand the memory to the max amount if you will be using it for video editing.

If you're editing HD video in any great lengths then you may want a better video card to go along with additional RAM. I've got an older Dell laptop with 6Gb of RAM, using on board video and anything at 1080p can be choppy at times.

I'm not sure if the vid card on that laptop is upgradeable, most aren't.

Well 1080p is choppy when watching youtube vids. But switch em to to 720p and it does it fine. Any particular brand of ram or video card? Im not sure how hard it is to put stuff in a laptop. Never tried.

What's the model number on the laptop? Might help to determine if you can upgrade the video card, and memory.

I wander also how they got the memory set up. Theres 2 slots. But is there two 2G or just one 4G? lol

Well it has 2 memory slots, so if you want to upgrade it, you'll need two 4gb memory sticks (DDR3 SDRAM). As far as the video card, it seems to be an integrated video card with shared memory, that won't be upgreadable.

Although its better than an AMD x64 or a Celeron...that Pentium D processor isn't exactly a high performance processor so I wouldn't try to throw too many tasks at it simultaneously. You didn't mention the OS so I'm going to assume its Windows 7. If its Vista I would remove it and install Win 7....Vista is TERRIBLE.

www.crucial.com for your RAM needs. Good luck on the video card thing. Most laptops have all of the video chipset soldered into the main board.

Should I just buy one 4G or buy 2 new 4G?

If it sits with 4Gb of RAM right now, then you just need to buy 1 more 4Gb stick of RAM.

You'll have to open it up and see what it came with, if it has one stick, then you can just buy another (I would recommend going with the same kind). If it currently has two sticks of RAM, then you'll need to replace them both.
