Anyone here own the AppleTV device? I'm thinking of getting it, but not sure if it's worth it. I have a Boxee Box in the bedroom and it works great.

Thought about the AppleTV because a co-worker gave a gift card to the Apple Store, so figured I use it against the AppleTV cost.

Besides the videos you buy from iTunes, can it stream video files downloaded from torrents, just like what the Boxee Box does? I have a few digital copies of my Blu-Rays, but I have tons of downloaded videos. Want to make sure the ATV can stream them.

I had one of the last gen apple tvs and jailbroke it and ran XBMC on it to stream video and it sucked. No 1080P and it had hell decoding ripped blurays. Took it back and got a boxee. Only thing apple tv is good for is hulu and other apps but most modern tvs or game consoles can do that.

The new apple tv does 1080P but it may be a while before a jailbreak is available.

Apple tv2 jb is the bomb. Its easy and it gives you tons of options and HD. Well worth the $65 bucks I paid for the box.
