  • Virus Help

My mom got some kind of virus on her computer. It is that one that looks like a windows anti virus program or something. A screen keeps coming up saying her computer is infected and what not. You click on my computer it shows nothing there... no programs or anything. (this is on a xp computer)

Well I did what I could...
I downloaded Malwarebytes, Super Anti Spyware, and Avira onto my external hard drive.
Hooked the hard drive up to the computer got Malwarebytes to install and run. it found 75 things I removed them. Let it restart the computer. After the restart same stupid things start coming up. And now when I go to my external hard drive it shows no files. There is stuff on the hard drive still, It just does not show up on the screen.

    Any help would be appreciated...

Dl and run Rkill or any of the variants from here. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/down...ti-virus/rkill

Next,dl and run unhide from the link below. That should make your app shortcuts reappear.

Next dl and run Ccleaner andake sure the DNS box is checked as well as any and all browser temp files and Java temp.

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy, and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. Install, uninstall, and toolbar included.

Next,re-run MBAM as a full scan.

Do all this from Safemode with Networking.

Additional help and information with how to get into Windows and macOS Safe Mode.

Post your MBAM log upon completion.

No I got the icons back, but I did notice when I restarted the computer like i would normally it seemed things were starting to vanish... not sure I turned it off before I let it go to far.

I cant do the spybot program because it wants to dl stuff before it runs, and I cant get the verizon wireless thing to work on it in safe mode.
