    Getting AT&T DSL shortly....

Is it possible to use any DSL modem or do I have to use one on the "supported" list?

    Thanks in advance...

Keep in mind, ATT has a cap(150 gigs if I'm not mistaken) on dsl. It's slightly higher for u-verse

Yea... Not happening in my apartment complex....

So I'm assuming AT&T charges more if you bust the cap or do they just throttle you?

"support" just means assistance from them setting up modem. If it's not on supported list, they won't be able to help set up modem. Doesn't mean you can't use it. I have a speedstream 5200 I use, but they don't support. You would just need to know how to set it up if needed on your own.

I have always been under the impression you have to use the ATT supplied 2wire modem but could put yours behind it but you had to have the 2wire one hooked up to sync with the central office equipment. Rafa would know more about all that than me though.

I'm with ya though. Getting tired of it. Like I told Lason, if it gets to the problem where I will "HAVE" to pay more, I will downgrade/pay less.

Back to the OP....if you want to use another modem that's not "supported", post it up and we can check. More than likely, you can use it as long as it's a DSL modem. You can also check specs from company and it will tell you that you can use it on AT&T.
