I assume that you read my rant. If not, they're more than happy to let users consume however much data they're willing to pay for w/out throttling. This is an attempt to get users off the old grandfathered unlimited plan. <---my belief

True story, ATT is the devil.

I know this to be true from working with them for years. Hell, just this week one 1 customer

        CallName no work
Vendor meet was cancelled with no notifications
Cutover was cancelled on my customer due to a paperwork snafu

All in all, w/ travel and such - that's around 5 hours wasted and then rescheduling

Don't get me started on the 1001 stories I have about ATT screw ups. I know technically different groups, to me it's all the same dumbass monster though.

I got the email and text warning today @ 2.1Gigs w/ 7days left in my billing cycle.

Customers have several ways to manage extremely high data usage.

You may also consider switching to a tiered data plan if speed is more important to you than having an unlimited data plan. Customers on tiered plans can pay for more data if they need it, and will not see reduced speeds.
            It's all about the money.

AT&T has announced an across-the-board rate increase for smartphone and tablet data plans, raising prices $5 Sunday for most plans while including incrementally larger usage allowances: Lite Us…

As it stands, AT&T's plan means that 5% of users will have their mobile broadband crimped each month, regardless of future improvements to network capacity. Many may choose to pay up to restore speedier connections. Operators are right when they point out that caps and fines are perfectly legitimate ways to keep a network fluid. Their true intentions will, however, be revealed when the 4G floodgates open. If the restrictions are not loosened, they can no longer be justified as a reasonable tax on bandwidth hogs who make online life slow and miserable for more restrained types. They will start looking more and more like a rent-seeking ruse.

AT&T can take their 4G service, their broadband, and their monopolizing money hungry thieving ways....and they can burn in hell. Im glad the T-mobile merger didn't go thru...and I hope millions of people start jumping ship until the companies greed causes them serious damage. Of course I know it won't happen....but one can dream. FUCK AT&T

Yeah, because retail stores are the ones that enforce data stipulations on your phone. :|

                  I got notified too.

I've used 2.3 gigs with 9 days left on this billing cycle. I'm on a grandfathered 'unlimited' plan.

What pisses me off is that it doesn't say, don't go over 3 gigs or we will throttle. No, instead it just says you are in the top 5%, which means when everyone is notified and using less that the top 5% number will be even easier to hit next month.

I'd go to T-mobile but they give shit reception in my work building. Verizon's data rates are just as bad. Sprint is the only reasonable one but I really like having a SIM card phone so I can just buy/sell phones on craigslist to upgrade without having to worry about checking the ESN number first, and their voice quality sucked when I had them like 4 years ago.

Sprint is supposed to get the Galaxy Nexus LTE sometime this year. I might just switched to them and pick up a Nexus S 4g on craigslist and then upgrade to a Galaxy Nexus later.

well fuck....I got the text message this morning. Don't make sense cuz I turn off 3g and turn on my wifi when I get home from work everyday. I averaged between 3-4.5 gigs a month, and so far I used 2 when I got this text.

Ok..that would make sense, but wonder why I never got it before. Unless more "unlimited users" are using less per month which lowers the # as a whole.

                            I learned something new today.

                            6gb=unlimited. I had no idea.
