I got a letter in the mail from Charter saying that:
"Charter regularly reviews and audits customers' billing statements to ensure accuracy. During this process, we discovered that you are leasing a Charter modem, but it is not appearing on your montly Charter billing statement. As a result, on your next statement, your monthly charges will be adjusted by $7* to reflect this omission. Since this was our error, we will not seek payment for previously unbilled charges relating to the equipment charge.
I sure as hell don't have my original agreement from 2004, but I don't recall being told that I would have to lease a $49 modem for 7 years for a total of $588 plus taxes and fees.
I'm still using the original "Ambit SpeedStream 60678EU" cable modem.
I'm going to pick up a Motorola DOCSIS 3.0 unit and drop this POS Ambit off at one of their offices...
What a scam..
