  • Flash drive question

I was copying music files from my computer to a new 2 GB flash drive. 3 times it got near the end of the copying and said it was full. Each time I deleted the files and started over after removing some files from the folder being copied to make it smaller.

It was going to fit the last time but got an I/O device error that will not allow deletion of the files, rewrite, or adding to.

How can the files currently on the flash drive be deleted so that the flash drive can be used or is it toast?

Go to My Computer/Computer, right click the drive>select Properties>Format and try again.

OK. Tried that but got this message.

Windows was unable to complete the format.

Reboot the PC and try again.

Still not working. I did successfully copy the folder to another flash drive. Perhaps this non-working one will get smashed with a hammer!

Burn it or using some small jumpers apply 120v AC to its USB contacts. That might make it work again. Film it and post on Youtube.

More exciting than a hammer though

The hammer will be enough satisfaction for me. Thanks for the tips!
