  • Steam Question

Ok so I have a couple of games that run on Steam. For some reason the internet here in Afghanistan will no longer allow steam to log-in. Steam wont even recognize the internet connection. Is there a way to bypass steam so I can play the damn game I spent $60 on??

Also, the BR disc drive on my sony laptop will not recognize the Skyrim disc?? It doesnt have an issue with anything else except this one. I have used the disc is other computers with no issues

    thanks for any help!

I don't recommend trying to circumvent security measures put in place by your employer.

Now as to your BR Drive, that I'm not sure of.

Oh I dont want to circumvent their security, a game is definitely not worth my job. I was just curious if there was a way to play Skyrim without Steam.

            You can try reinstalling it.

Make sure any Steam application is deleted from the registry before reinstalling.

For steam to work offline, you have to be online first. It's easily the most retarded thing ever.

Yeah I know, I used to be setup for offline play. Then it lost my login info and wanted me to re-login, and what do you know Steam is apparantly now blocked or something. Im really not a fan of steam at all, I paid good money for my game and I shouldnt have to have internet access to freaking play it

I use to use proxy servers when i was in Afghanistan. Hell back in 06 you couldn't even access dfwstangs. But not on my work computers, i had hadji net that i paid monthly for.
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

Yeah, a lot of these "cloud" based things and security measures have -zero- processes in place for offline PCs. It's a shame really.
