What's so much better about Android Marketplace?Smart phones took away your ability to only call and text?

He is just saying that having the Internet at all times is, for lack of a better description, a burden. constantly checking email,dfwm, etc. it gets in the way of life.

1. Rooting does happen more than once during the life of your phone, unless I missed something. Which I may have, since I don't invest THAT much time on the subject. I usually have to re-root after an OTA update since I don't run a custom ROM.

2. I invested time/money into Titanium Backup (which does a whole lot more than the name would indicate) and Juice Defender with fairly good success in extended my battery life to acceptable levels. I even crippled JD by not allowing it to control my wireless/cellular stuff.

In your position though OP, I would go iPhone all day long and without a doubt.

It boils down to this imo: do you want top tier ease of use or customization. Apple products pride themselves on their GUI while Android is on the raw horsepower/custom level.

i know nobody cares..

but i ended up getting an old 3gs from a friend for $20. the upgrade from 3g to 3gs will keep me happy enough for a while so the prices on everything else can drop

What iOS is it on right now? If you haven't updated to iOS 5 you might reconsidering doing so as mine slowed down quite a bit. Still useful but still annoys the shit out of me when I'm trying to do something and it doesn't respond immediately. Other than that, I love my iPhone 3GS but I've been thinking about upgrading as well but haven't decided on what to go with yet.

sometimes i think that they make these new firmware updates to make people on older phones upgrade. the 3gs was great, pre 4.0...4.0 slowed them down and 5.0 makes them crawl...same for the 4, really, just not as bad. the 4s is great, on the 5+ firmware. i'm sure that they'll come up with some major update, as soon as the 5 comes out, and it will make the 4s slow!

who did that study? i'd seriously go back to the 3.1X firmware, if apps would actually work with it. all of this multi tasking stuff, etc, just kills the speed of the phone.
