The best part is that you can modify anything and everything on your device.
Dont you still have to purchase the tethering app to get free tethering?

I just got my wife a 4s for christmas. I'm not sure if I'm going to get one for myself, or go with a Galaxy S2. (We're on Tmobile)

The only reason I ever went through the jailbreak process on my old 3g was to gain the ability to have custom text and email tones. With my iPhone 4 and iOS 5+, that is no longer a reason to jailbreak. However, if you want to tether or make visual mods, then jailbreaking is your answer.

Me too. Bought my wife a white 4s for Christmas last night just so she would quit asking for it. She always wants the newest version. I'm fine with the 4 and hoping the 5 has 4g.

5.0.1 untethered J/B is finished, they're just working out some kinks. An A5 device j/b is in the works. A4 should be ready by Xmas. At least that's the word on the streets......

after using bitesms, i don't think that i could go back to the standard messaging app. i like being able to respond to a text from a lock screen or whatever, without having to open the text app. when a text pops up, you can respond, see the conversation, etc; all without having to open the messaging app or even having to unlock/open your phone. there are tons of other things you could do, but that is the one that i would hate to lose.

                        to the op:
if you jailbreak, check out the following apps:

                        bitesms (replaces messaging app)
sbsettings (great for making changes without having to open settings)
installous (if you want to download cracked apps) (great for free previews, then download and pay for it if you like it)
MyWi - tethering app...allows you to tether via cord, blue tooth or turns your phone into a wireless router
winterboard (lets you change complete themes on your phone)

those are good basic ones...you have tons of options, once you start to learn stuff, but those are good ones that are very easy to use, to get started.

If you're gonna use the free tethering app, be sure to install and use this in Firefox. If not, your service provider will see a non-mobile browser.

So I watching some vids on the tethered and untethered. Obviously i want the untethered.

What all is on that really doesnt need to be on that uses up battery life?
Btw i have it for sprint.

Is the jailbreakme website still around? If so, jailbreaking would be a piece of cake. There's no way you could fuck anything up.
