    Charter is upping their speeds..

    It looks like Charter is greatly increasing their download speeds. The Ultra service is now 100Mbps while the Plus service is 30Mbps.

    Unfortunately the max upload speed is 5Mbps, which is still pretty decent for most people.

    I rebooted my router and the best speed test I could muster was 30.56Mbps. I've already got a DOCSIS 3.0 router. I think I'll give them a call this week and see if they've got the Ultra service available in Lake Dallas. The press release says they have it on in 95% of their market area.

    Good news Charter customers, you're getting a speed bump! The DOCSIS 3.0-based cable service is boosting both download and upload speeds across all tiers of its service -- starting at the bottom with its Express package, which will be a 15 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up offering from now on. The "flagship" Plus level is getting its rates almost doubled from 18 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up to 30 Mbps down and 4 Mbps up, offering you plenty of bandwidth for streaming, torrenting and browsing all at the same time. The fastest connection is getting not just a new speed (100 Mbps down), but a new name -- Ultra 100. Sadly, your $60 a month for the big bits doesn't get you particularly blazing upload speeds. Charter's tops out at a pretty modest 5 Mbps up. Check out the PR after the break for a few more details.

        Fuck AT&T! $45 per month and it is the only choice we have in our neighborhood

            this is what i consider decent, usually its half this and double the ping.



            Cant get dsl, cant get cable, fiber is 130 miles away. 3g ftw

              January 3rd FiOS said they'd be up and running in two weeks in our neighborhood and they'd call us to schedule an install appointment. Glad we didn't wait for them, but would switch immediately if they installed over here.

                I've been extremely satisfied with my FiOS service - Internet and TV have been great.



                I only have the 15/5mb service - Seems like plenty to me

                      Man, I would kill for FIOS. Lake Dallas gave Charter a franchise a long time ago. Tiny little Shady Shores has FIOS while it takes forever for Charter or CenturyLink (worthless bastards) to upgrade anything.

                          I'm with you.... wah! to all the Charter ppl with "slow" speeds.

                          Here's what I get for $45/month


                          I could upgrade to a 50 down 2 up service for more $$$$. Other option is DSL but where I lived all they could promise me was 768kb down.
