I know on mine if I have the cables routed near the cables for the tv or xbox I get a little humming or statis through the headset. I keep them kind of by themselves and it cuts most of that out.
I have read that if you purchase a better optical cable to run from the base to the xbox helps with the crackle. Also, some routers broadcast in 2.4ghz and that can cause it as well, you can adjust your router settings to use a lower range on the scale and it cures it.
