It was while I was watching an HD porn this week that I noticed that my video card was just not good enough any longer. That, coupled with the fact that the processor overheats on occasion has caused me to want to build a new PC. I'll piece it together over a 2-5 month span, depending on how the wallet is come Christmas time. Help me piece it together. I guess I really only need suggestions on the CPU, MOBO and video card. Case, PSU and RAM are easily selected.

I have stretched my old pc for about 7 years. It is on its last legs.

That being said, I don't plan on doing anything extreme with it. Internet, mild gaming, porn, that's about it for now, so I suppose my budget would be none, so long as it isn't an overkill build. How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

An i3 or phenom II 4 gigs of ram and a GTX460/ATi equivalent should more than get you taken care of for what you've said here.
Edit: This http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...t=Combo.735688 plus this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130570 should get you what you've described and have no issues. It's not going to run the latest games on max settings. But it beats the crap out of the D3 recommended specsLast edited by racrguy; 09-30-2011, 07:52 PM.

I'd hold off till AMD and Intel both bring their new chips to market before I'd commit to a new build. When they hit, prices for current stuff will drop.
However, if you're not married to a particular brand, you could get enough nice AM3+ board now and a Phenom 2 Quad then swap out for Bulldozer when it hits. You don't have this option with Intel. Their new chips will require yet another new socket(see expensive new mobo).
I'll build ya one on paper here in a lil while.

This gives you room to grow/expand in the future(AMD Bulldozer) and up to 32Gigs RAM, it'll be freakin fast and game decently provided you aren't playing the latest hardware selling monster of games. You'll be able to OC to well past 4Ghz safely as well. If you do play very graphics intense games, then I'd suggest this GPU instead but it's gonna put you a tad over $800 at current prices.

Intel i5 2500k sandy bridge processors at 3.3 ghz are on sale for 149.99 at microcenter, and Frys will price match that shit! Best deal I gotten in a while.
