Android guys in here?

I've recently had problems with my Droid X freezing up on me and just about daily I'm having to pull the battery out and put it back in to get it turned back on. Last time I talked to Verizon support they suggested I run as many apps from my memory card as possible, so I've got all the apps I can run on that card. Anything I can do to keep this from happening? Will rooting my phone in help in any way?

I've noticed removing apps I don't use actually makes a difference in performance. Followed by a reboot.

I've try that but I removed everything I don't use and unfortunately I'm still having issues.

The only time I've had major problems with my DX is with retarded apps. The advantage to the droid market is the same thing that makes it negative sometimes. Bad apps take a little to get weeded out or the dev can make an update that breaks it.

Also, you may want to check for Android based viruses/etc via Lookout.

Anyway, first thing I would try is updating everyone of your apps. However, start thinking about what you installed and/or may have been updated when the problems started happening.

What you CAN DO with root access is what makes it awesome. That having been said, your problem could be one of many things. What is it doing when it's freezing?

When it freezes I could be doing anything, trying to open an app (never the same one when it freezes), opening up a menu, unlocking my screen, etc. And it'll sit there for 10-15 min till I pull the battery.

When does it lock up? When a call comes in? When a text comes in? Trying to make a call? text? Email? When pressing the power button to unlock the device? going through your home screen?

Dl Watchdog from market and set the alarm threshold to 30% so you can try to isolate if it's an app that's causing the lockup issues.

And as I've said, I've already uninstalled everything I don't use. Once again, when it freezes up at different times, I can be sending a text, looking up a number, opening a webpage, unlocking my phone, going through my settings, turning on my wifi, picking my nose, playing my lotto numbers, eating dinner, or even taking a shit.

If I root, can I get rid of all the bloatware? I noticed there's a shitload of stuff that runs even when I don't open it.

Yes. Just make sure you don't delete any system processes.

I've got all my moved to my SD card that'll run off my SD card.

Looks like you're due for a factory reset, or flash a rom that isn't from Moto/Verizon.

As everyone has said, oem roms suck.
