Has anyone monetized their Youtube account?

Like the title says, Has anyone signed up with Adsense and linked it to their Youtube account?

I received an invitation the other day, but I haven't taken the time to look up any details. I don't have a lot of videos but I figured if I can get "free" money, why not try.

I got the same email but I declined because of my hate for ads. I use every form of ad blocking tool/app/mechanism available to me so that I never have to see them. When I watch teh boob tube(TV), I'll change the channel or mute it till the commercials are over.

If I want to know about someone's product or service, I'll contact them directly.

A buddy of mine has over 17000 subscribers and makes about 1 vid a week. I think he makes ~$2800 a month.

I've got a buddy does and he said it's not easy, your videos have to be viral, meaning you have to have thousands of views in a short amount of time. It's something he does as a full time job just to make money off of it.

Yeah, I'm not looking to get rich or quit my job with it. I've been considering developing a drinking problem and was looking for a way to subsidize it!
