  • help figure out why my hp won't charge?

Well basically my laptop has stop charging and I am not sure what is wrong with it. I have replaced both the battery / a/c cable and still nothing. does anyone have any advice on what the problem may be or what i could do?

the connector on the side that the power cord plugs into is probably loose or the connections are shorted. happens a lot due to people handling the laptops when plugged in and not paying attention to the power connector/ cord being stressed.

Plug the charging cable into the laptop AND the wall plug at your house/workplace.

it's the power jack on the motherboard... needs to be replaced.

I've made a habit of only charging my new acer when I'm not using it... reduces the current draw on the power jack and you don't bump/bang it. It helps that it has 6hr+ battery life

I've had power jack issues on multiple laptops

thanks, guys, I've looked into it and it seems to be somewhat of a problem on these hps. Do either one of you recommend anyone who can fix it? I've read that I may have to replace the whole motherboard or if I'm lucky enough I may only have to solder it all back together.

don't know, parts can be had on ebay. we've got this crazy fucker here in Alvin who runs his own computer repair shop. I usually have him do my circuit board repair.

May or may not be valid, but how old is the laptop? Sometimes it's more sensible just to buy new.

Especially considering how cheap they've gotten recently. If you have an old computer and/or a cheap one I'd just buy a new one and sell yours for parts on eBay or something. I've recently bought a new Lenovo and an HP a few months ago both running Windows 7 64 Bit for under $350 each.
