  • Video Card Suggestions

Guys, need a little some assistance here. I recently built my own computer because of the new Star Wars game thats coming out soon.

I didnt build a monster machine like some people do because I'm not much into PC gaming. The only game I play most is Star Craft 2 and with the new computer, it runs just fine.

However, I did take advantage of the Bad Company 2 bundle for 14.99 off of GameStop's site. I installed it and it runs and plays, but not smooth as it should. I figured the video card is not sufficient. This is the card I currently have:

Buy PowerColor Go! Green Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 CrossFireX Support Low Profile Video Card (UEFI Ready) AX5450 1GBK3-SHEV4 with fast shipping and top-rated customer service. Once you know, you Newegg!

I'm assuming if BF2 is running like this with my current card, I'm sure Star Wars will run the same.

Any suggestions on a better video card?

    Thanks!

The PSU is whatever came with the case, so I'm sure it's crappy. If I need to upgrade that, I have no problem with that. Dont know how many amps, not at home at the moment.

Other than mouse and keyboard, the only other USB devices I have connected to it are my iPad and Zune....and that's only to sync up media files. Other than that, no printers or anything else.

What resolution and what's your budget?

If I can remember right the res is 1080x1024, but I have to double check when I get home tonight.

As for budget, I'm not shy to spend, but not looking to spend $500 on one piece of hardware.

I guess for a video card, I'm willing to spend in the range of $150-200.

If your looking to stick to about the same price range, I've recommended http://tinyurl.com/3u9zd46 countless times for it's price range. A noticeable difference at a comparable cost.

For your "new budget" you might check the specs on http://tinyurl.com/2f9676s

Got this card 8 months ago and have since added a twin. The price has dropped a tad and is a hell of a card! It's also superior in overclocking. An even better "bang for the buck".

Those are pretty damn good cards, I would recommend them if you are on a budget.

Yeah, going to research all the video card suggestions that were made here and then decide which one to go with. Good thing I noticed this now or I would have been very disappointed if I noticed this while trying to play Star Wars.
