Friends PS3 slim: "Harddrive Corrupted"

So my friend says his PS3 showed him a Harddrive Corrupted message when he turned it on today. It asked him to reformat it, so he did and afterwards, it played fine. Well, after he turned it off, and then back on, it wanted him to do it again. Anybody know of a more permanent fix? Replace the HDD or could there be more to it?

It's a 120GB PS3 slim. Not sure if this is a common problem with this model...I think he said it's about 2 years old so I think that would make it a first gen Slim.

I say replace the HD if the reformat eventually failed. They're cheap.

I have a 2nd gen ps3 that i put a 320GB
in it for fifty bucks..

yep get a new hard drive, they are cheap. I threw a 250gig hard drive in my PS3 the first day I had it.
