  • RIFT running issues

I have been giving RIFT a shot since WOW is boring now a days. I had it at minimum graphics on the trial due to its being a graphics intensive game (at least compared to WOW). I went out and bought a vid card today to fix that. Got a VisionTek HD5670 2GB card. The game is still a bit choppy on high or ultra settings!!! Its really pissing me off too. I ran my PC on the http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/analysis.aspx website to see where it falls. It rated my computer way past the "recommended" slot for RIFT. My system is as follows:

    1. CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 - 2.67GHz
    2. 6 GB of RAM memory
    3. ATI HD5670 - 2GB DDR3 memory - 775MHz engine clock - 400 stream processing units - Direct X11
    4. 600 GB HDD

If you need any further info, lemme know. The vid card allows you to overclock, but I havent dabbled with it.

The 5670 is a low end card for gaming despite the massive frame buffer(ram). What's your budget for a GPU and are you on stock air for the CPU cooler?

Well hell.. I took back a Nvidia GT 430 today in hopes that this one would be better.
        Still stock cooler on CPU.

It's marginally better than the 430. They're both geared towards HD vid more than gaming. What's your budget for a gaming card? Why not get a decent cooler and OC that Q? 3.2 to 3.4 is a safe OC for that chip.

When you say "that Q" do you mean the CPU? What about OC the vidcard? My budget was of course cheap. This one was like $80. And I compared it to several.

But OC the CPU is only going to work if I get a better cooler. If so, what do you suggest?

This just royally pisses me off that a vid card that is 10x better then the old is making it run about as fukin good as my old one... Currently updating drivers.
-old card is a Nvidia 9500GT. Came with my HP Elite 9340.

                  5670 is a mainstream card.

                  Get a GTX460 or higher.

This will be about the biggest bang for the buck on the low cost side.

<--- wishes he had not spent money on World of WarRift.

Same old shit as before. The only cool part of the game is the outdoor raids which wow ALSO had, but you had to be 50+ to do them.

the game gets a 9 for fun as a new game, but a 0 for originality.

Honestly tho, its hard to find an original MMORPG anymore that isnt shit. Rift has better graphics, different game and story, and has a different "calling" setup that is a little more in depth then the average WOW warrior, rogue, mage, lock, etc...
