  • Router problems?

I have a Belkin N Play wireless router and cannot get on all the websites while being wireless.... When I try to go onto Youtube, it just says "Server not found". When I have the laptop hardwired to the modem, I dont have a problem connecting to any websites. I can go over to a buddies house with my laptop and wont have any problems any websites while being wireless.
I have already downloaded the lastest firmware.

Im guess its just a shitty router. What is the best router that wont kill my wallet? It has to be a N router

    1. You sure your laptop has a N wireless NIC card
    2. Did this happen suddenly or from day one
    3. What encryption method are you using or is it an open network
    4. Are you on the right subnet - Is your laptop network settings set to obtain IP via DHCP or static - Same goes for the router wireless settings - Is the router wireless settings set up for providing DHCP or static IP leases
    5. Have you tried resetting the router back to factory defaults
    6. The firmware update may have bricked it, if you didn't follow the steps properly or was a bad file
    7. Was the firmware file extension correct or was it converted

Oh, to answer your last question. Any Linksys running dd-wrt or Tomato firmware will give you excellent functionality, improved wi-fi networking with a myriad of configuration options, and stability.

Are you saying that it will get on some websites wireless, just not specific sites? Or, when wireless, it won't get online period?

When wireless, do you have visibility of the router(the router's internal config page)?

If you don't have a lot of altered settings in the router, it may be easier/quicker to hold the reset button and start fresh.

This started happening after I moved, changed internet providers (Grande Communications), and started using the Belkin wireless router.
I only have these problems when the laptop is wireless. I will be able to get on some websites when wireless. When I have it hard wired to the modem, I dont have any problem with any websites.

I am sure which wireless card this laptop is using. The tech that set up the internet told me to get a N router
