that shit is old but might be fine depending on what needs to be done on the computer. it should be adequate for internet, email, porn and microsoft office.www.hppmotorsports.com

It loads all those, minus porn, but I can't stand how long it takes. The main thing I use is Microsoft Access, but the Access databases are all on the server, and this geriatric machine is using a wireless because they didn't drop a line in the warehouse, even though everything is in the same building. So the lack of RAM coupled with the slow as shit wireless PCI card makes for long, keyboard-slamming Access load times. I might just open it up, see what kind of RAM it takes and go freaking buy some. Ugh, corporate budgets.

yea, wifi + network databases is a poor choice.
our computers here are actually good hardware wise, but they run like trash due to the large amount of resource hogging corporate applications running in the background.www.hppmotorsports.com

That actually has better specs than a LOT of the computers at my office...
As stated before, wifi sucks for network databases...and Access sucks regardless...is Access just the interface and you are running a SQL backend?
If anything, your desktop might need another gig of ram and possibly a defrag of the HDD...along with a wired network connection.كافر

In a warehouse?
Looks like its time to do some home-made cable running in the rafters....

Damn. About 2 months ago my boss slid an additional 4 GB of RAM (brings me to 8) and the biggest graphics card I've ever seen across my desk for me to add to my machine because he wants to maximize my productivity.

Been fighting that at my work for over a year now. We are using some of the latest most advanced 3d software for building plants but are working on $200 computers.
We FINALLY got a a few software developers of the 3d software programs we use(Cadworx, PDMS, PDS, Microstation) and tell upper management that our computers are not anywhere near the power we need. Hopefully we are getting 64 bit machines finally with "at least" 12 gigs of ram.
We currently have Intel Core 2 CPU@ 2.4ghz and 2gigs of ram(spent my own money to put in an additional 2gigs) running 32bit XP Pro. Which I understand sounds like a lot, but when the minimum system requirements are 64 bit machines with 8 gigs of ram we are way underpowered."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
