You're best bet is to backup everything you want and format/reinstall, you have a rootkit. I say this because rootkit's change critical system files and a format/reinstall is the only way to know w/100% certainty that your machine is no longer compromised.

In the future, NEVER browse the web on a user acct that has Admin privileges. Follow that advice and you'll never get a virus just surfin the web.

I'd be glad to help you and it sounds as if you're near by. I'm @78 and Buckingham.

Tx Redneck, you the man lol.

Quick question. Can I backup a program I no longer have the disk for? i.e. Photoshop CS3? Id like to format and restart but dont want to lose this program.

Not that I'm aware of. Do you have the product key still? If so, you may be able to re- dl it and just use your current key to reinstall.

See if the Belarc tool or going to the registry key will net the product key.

My PC is fucked. I'm waiting on a new HD to get here so I can install windows on it, save my music, and wipe the old drive.

Currently, it will boot into Safe Mode but will not load Safe Mode w/ Networking or regular Windows (it bluescreens during the load). It all started when I got the XP Total Security virus. The bluescreens started after I removed it using rkill and MBAM.

Shhh, I'm using it as an excuse with my wife for a new HD. Lol, I'll try it if I can find my windows CD.
