I used to wear Sauconys and I liked them, especially as light as they are, but they're not overwhelmingly durable. I try to swap out running shoes every 6 months or so and I'm on a shoestring budget so I switched to Nike Zoom Air Pegasuses right now and they've been really durable. A little heavier than what I'm used to but lots of support and plenty comfortable.

nike free run feel good to me. if your used to running in a "cast" your feet will be sore from using muscles that havent been used so go easy and you will notice less injury once they are strenthened. Im just glad the warmer weather is back so i can go for a run in my vibram 5finger kso's soon

I've seen more and more folks with those five toed shoe thingies, can't remember the names, but they swear by them. I'll probably try them next time I need some shoes.
          Vibrams.

Do yourself a big favor and go to a local Run On, let them watch you walk/jog and they'll fit a shoe to your foot based on the way you pronate.

I'd love to go to a place that could check that as i was running. I live in the sticks In iowa.

Here soon it will be dirt/hwy running. Not as much treadmill as spring is getting here. Even if it is snowing today haha.

My wife used to wear nikes. Now that she is running 10+ at a time she switched to asics.

I am going to stop by the local university and see where they send the cross country people to buy their shoes.

Ah I gotcha... you may see if the nearest larger city has a specialty running shop. I went to a Run On here in Dallas and they put me into a pair of Brooks running shoes. Up to that point I'd never heard of Brooks. Let me say they're the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn, and they weren't any more expensive than the New Balance I've worn. Calling the local university is a great idea.

Nike Lunarglide 2 here. I've been in this series for the last year, and I've put about 1500 miles on 6 pairs. I'm a big guy and have had no issues.

Best advice thus far. I've got nothing but good things to say about the help that I've gotten at Run On.

I got a pair of bad shoes at Run On based on their advice. I wear them for walking around now, but I would never run in them. I had shin splints for years and they couldn't help me.

You ultimately have to decide what the best running shoes are for yourself. If you have any pains or aches, then you have a running form, shoe issue, or perhaps both.

Shin splints aren't necessarily caused by the shoes your wearing, the way you run play a big part in it.

I agree, but the wrong footwear can make your running form even worse.
