Ironically I wear "helmet sized" headphones to help zone out and ignore most of what's being mentioned, and I haven't yet tried to do an exercise and couldn't because of them. They also help with my "fuck off" face when I want to be left alone.

They do seem convenient with the not having to make sure wires are clear especially when doing barbell shrugs. Probably sound a whole lot better than ear buds as well.
There are dummys who get pissy because those are being worn? Fucking LOL...

I can't tell you how many times I've seen people have to sit there and readjust their beats by dre while on a bench, or doing other vigorous activities. There was this one guy in Allen that would have to put the head strap over his face...? I've never tried running in them...but I've never seen it done successfully either.

I've also never known a big difference between nice in the ear buds vs over the ear...but in the ear have always been much easier for physical activities based on my usage.

I will give you the fact that it makes it very clear you want to be left alone, and that can be a huge benefit.

This fad has luckily died down...or maybe its because I'm at a different gym now.

I've tried several different sets of earbuds, and all of them continually work their way out of my ears, and don't block out external noise near as good as the ear cups do. I can promise you that in my case it's not for fad or fashion, but strictly function. FWIW they're black Sony headphones, not iridescent Beats by Dre.

Leaving sweat behind and not racking weights are really my only two gripes anymore. I've come to find that most everything else was a case of me being judgmental, so I stopped concerning myself with other people's lives.

I never wear headphones at the gym but I haven't found a pair of earbud headphones that will stay in my ears if I'm doing anything physical.

            My gripes:
            1. Unsolicited advice
1a. People that want to talk more than lift
1b. Old fat dudes that talk about how much they used to lift
            2. The bros walking around carrying invisible luggage in both hands that others have mentioned.
            3. People that take 5 minutes between sets fucking around on their phone and won't let you work in.
            4. People that don't rerack weights
            5. People that aggressively drop weights. Typical example would be the guy that gets done with DB incline bench and throws the weights down.

I've been lifting at my rock climbing gym for the last couple years and there is usually 0-1 other people in the weight area so I don't have to deal with BS anymore.

I dont mind someone leaving a couple 45s on the bar, i just hate when there is a 45, then a 5, then a 35, then 6 2.5s, and then a couple 25s on the rack, and i need the 45. almost all other bullshit doesnt bother me.
yall are a bunch of whiny ass's.

i have never had anyone bother me about form or any other shit, and i dont mind trying to answer a question when asked as long as its not in the middle of a rep. If someone is taking their time, thats your problem, find something else to do, or wait, 10 mins wont kill your gains brah. people that bitch about dropping dumb bells, it might be easy to gentle set your 25s down bro, but im not risking fucking my shoulder up trying to appease you.

"How much do you gently set down, brah?" - Said nobody ever.

I'm sorry I offended you so much you had to imply I'm weak (I am but that's beside the point). When people are bending dumbbells and breaking the heads off them throwing them down it affects other people beyond the lifter looking like a jackass. I'm not talking about trying not to set off a lunk alarm at planet fitness. I'm talking the people that shot put the fucking things. Since you're so strong you've probably been in enough gyms to see who I'm talking about.

I beg to differ with that statement...intensity and rest time is CRUTIAL to making gains brahh

I just go ask them nicely how many more they have or simply...can I work in while you rest?

Dropping heavy weights bends and breaks them as well as creating a hazard. Even when inclining the 120s...they're gently set down. If you're dropping them...they're too heavy.

You have a mission in life. You need to tell these people they are walking wrong. "Bro, you're walking all wrong and it bothers me enough to post about it on a message board. See? Do it like this. See how I'm walking? See my little turn on the catwalk? THAT'S how you walk, bro!"

Toweling the sweat vs cleaning the sweat. Gyms that provide terry towels just dry them off and nothing ever gets cleaned. Gyms that provide some type of sanitation wipes are what I prefer. I usually hit my equipment before and after I use it.

                              Curling at the squat rack.
                              Noobs in general.
Really old people at the gym. Seriously, it's too late and you're gonna die soon anyways.
Any more than 2 people working out together at the same station.
People who don't wash their hands.

Ugh... the sweat alone is enough to make my glad I'm building my own. Nastiness.
