It's priced like this because it is the new "in" workout, and they can demand that type of money. In a few years it will be something else, or the same thing with a slightly different name. That's just the way the psyche and trends work in our society. It's also not remarkably new. There are many similar workouts for free.

However if it works for you, and it motivates you, then it is probably worth it.

I motivate myself for the most part, or knowing I have a race I've signed up for in the near future motivates me. It's also expensive, but it works for me.

There is no one size fits all exercise program or running shoe. Just do something. It's a whole lot better than the alternative.

Fort Worth has crossfit too. I have a sticker or card somewhere in my running shorts from the race on Saturday. If anyone wants the info, let me know.

I plan to sign up for more races to force me to run more as well. That is the only way for me to stay motivated and with a program. I have no problem staying in a weight room, but I hate hate HATE running.

EDIT: and Nike plus has been a great motivator as well.

I hate running as much as anyone. Sadly it's the easiest way for me to drop weight.

My wife signs us up for runs. She likes it. Her friend Amy is addicted so that gets us going too. I only do runs because I have a finishing things issue. It's the last portion of a triathlon and I have to finish. I'm probably one of those that would crawl if it came down to it.

I really like the bike part but haven't put much work into it. I've been learning how to swim and run better lately.

I stuck with it through August of 2011 and developed some knee issues. I took off and started up again in January of 2012 at a new location in Addison (I moved).

sucks starting over, but muscle memory FTW. I also diagnosed my knee issues as well. Jumpers knee. bought a couple knee straps and they work wonders.

1 rep max on deadlift at 405lbs. When I started I could barely manage 355. (more form then anything IMO)

went from being able to do 3 dead hang pull ups to 15.

went from only being able to run 1 mile at a 11min pace to 5k at 9:45 pace

                  etc etc etc.

any specific questions feel free to ask.

picked up descent size in my traps/shoulders

competed in a CF competition which was really fun.

                    Congrats on the weight loss.
Sucks you didn't stick with it and work around your injury though.
                    What is your weight now?

yeah I am disappointed in myself. But it was a combination of things (really just excuses). we had a software conversion at work and I went from 40hrs to literally 60+hrs a week. My knees also got to the point where I was having to ice them down after every single WOD and was getting worse. I remember in August I would row 1000meters in 3 mins and the first day back I TANKED after 300 meters :Picard:

I’m back on it now though. Eating clean again, doing CF 4-5 times a week. I have no doubt in my mind I’ll be able to get back to where I was last August within a couple months. over those 4 months I also ate like garbage. I literally would buy brownie batter to eat that was double fudge. Lol my weight went from what you see in the pic to 228! So literally put on 12-15lbs. I’d consider this my 3rd full week back in CF and its already coming off, my strength is returning and my cardio is improving. Aint no thang!

Crossfit is awesome. It is high impact though, so people that are either injury prone or just really out of shape in general aren't great candidates to benefit from it.

Pretty interesting. Again though, like I said before, high impact = high risk. The "crossfit guy" who is a personal trainer at my work even admits that some of the shit that crossfit says people should do is horrible on your body. This guy is about 6-7% bodyfat and pretty much dominates any crossfit game he enters. He saw me doing clean and presses once, and saw some problems with my form and made some suggestions and it completely changed the way I do them now and while I'm still sore, I don't feel beat up after doing them. Basically, he turned a 3 motion monstrosity that I was doing into a single fluid motion movement. He preaches, it's not about weight, it's about form.

I went to a class one time and didn't like it. I like doing my own thing and not being told what to do I guess. Everyone I know that cross fits seem kind of crazy. My neighbors do it out of their house and they are crazy about.
