lol, but it's probably actually helping more than it's hurting
It has injury written all over it, there are all sorts of little muscles in the upper core to get tweaked, or even a pulled groin is highly likely. The only reason that he's able to lift that much is momentum, he wouldn't be able to do half that with his knees on the ground.
Why would you need straps if you're under it? LOL

I've seen a guy lose it using a thumbless grip, but straps wouldn't help there either, they don't keep the bar from moving down the palm. In this case it's more likely for padding, or just that he's clueless.

As for a thumbless grip, I agree about it being a dangerous grip...but whenever I do close grip presses at 315, I've never had a problem and the grip just feels a lot more comfortable to me. I do try to keep the bottom of my palm elevated as much as possible though, plus I use Versa Gripps.
If you don't mind, I'm gonna post some more funny stuff seen in the gym...
