any suggestions? cruising craigslist and there are hundreds, would like something that is nice and reliable, prefer something newer.

I've always liked Precor equipment, but a good one is probably out of your budget. -
300-400 used on CL will probably be a treadmill that would cost 500-600 new. Just about any treadmill in that price range new should be a pretty good treadmill...after filtering through the BS ads of course.
If it helps, I have one from Walmart that's less than $400 and it feels solid, doesn't wobble or shake when jogging and has a pretty good size belt (width/length). I'll dig up a link. Only minor complaint is the heart monitor isn't the greatest but it's no big deal for me.

I bought the Proform 505 CST Treadmill from Walmart Online. It was on the higher that I wanted to spend at $499 but after all the reviews from other sites, etc I took a chance. Put it together myself and it's been such a good choice in my opionion. Plus, I don't just walk I run on mine and it's been holding up well for the past few months since I've had it.Comment
