This is just to loosen your joints and get a little blood flowing, you don't want to tap into your ATP stores. Then get under 315, and your brother will have to help very little if at all.

I'll give that a try. Was thinking about for the next two weeks just working out with 275 instead of 225. Then on the 28th try for 3 plates. I have a feeling that won't happen though. 15lbs doesn't sound like much but we all know that's a lot lol

    • Make sure that you do a forced rep or two on every set, make use of that spotter. Needing help is a good thing, give your chest reason to get stronger.

            • My bench is down to 265 (yes, I touched my chest). I guess it's not that bad since my 300lbs was discredited by you dicks . I could touch 285 to my chest though back when I was actually doing chest days.

I saw a guy get under 225 during my lunchtime workout today, and he literally moved the bar all of 3 inches down and back up. He's probably posting on facebook right now, about how it felt good to rep 225 for 4.

I dunno the back story on your max, just thought it was comical, and at least somewhat related.

I went to like an inch or so above my chest. So a good ways, just all the way.

                      • Did 3 sets of 275 last night (this is a first). Told my brother I want to get 4 reps no matter how much help I need. To my surprise I was able to get 3 reps by myself with little help on the 4th ones. I'm already sore

I bet you've got 315 in you, rest up a few days, and give 'er a go.

You think? Gonna give it a try next week one way or another.

How should I go about it? My thinking is do my warm up of 135x12. Then do 225x3 just to get some weight up. Then do the 315. This is what I did when getting 300 up a couple of weeks ago. I just rest a little longer than usual between the 225 and 315.

I wouldn't bother with the 225, loosen up with a few slow reps of the bar, and a few more of 135 to get the joints warm. Rest for 1 min while you stretch, and then go for it. Tell your spot not to help you at all until you slow to almost a halt. Have confidence that you can do it, and do it.

To ease your mind, your spot won't have to lift much at all to help you, so even when you get slow, don't bother thinking that you'll get stuck.

Why not bother with 225? I ask cause that's a big jump in weight to go from 135 to 315
