Cholesterol... I know total should be low, HDL should be high and LDL should be low.

My BP this morning was 104/70

Total cholesterol: 119 (recommended <200, high risk >240)
    LDL: 63 (recommended <130, high risk >160)

    So far, so good!

    But...

    HDL: 24 (recommeded >60, high risk <50)
    Triglycerides: 161 (recommeded <150, high risk <200)

What gives? What's the best way to get the HDL up and triglyrcerides down while not affecting anything else?

Your LDL to HDL ratio is pretty good as it is.

To raise HDL: omega 3 supplements (fish oil, etc.), olive oil, nuts

To lower triglycerides: eliminate/reduce carb intake where you can, especially those from refined sources

It was a fasting test (no food since 9pm the night before) but what effect would the previous day's meals have on the levels?

Say a 10oz NY strip, buttery crab meat mashed potatoes, apple crisp / ice cream desert and a couple glasses of wine the evening before?

The mashed potatoes and deserts likely had more negative effects than the other things, or at least that's been my experience. Add in bread with the meal and that wouldn't have helped either. To me the cholesterol numbers really aren't that bad.

Do you feel good? Then I wouldn't worry so much about the numbers. My Dr. told me they are based on averages, obviously, but what may be high/low to someone else isn't necessarily applicable to others.

My numbers went to shit while at CMI. Apparently, massive lunches daily, insane hours and no exercise don't equate to living healthy.

I feel fine. Isn't that how it always goes? lol

Guy feels fine. Guy feels a tingle in his arm. Guy's heart siezes up like the Studebaker engine in my garage.

I'm not overly concerned, but I would like to know what I could do to make it better.

Hell, my dad runs the cardiac cath lab at a hospital and he doesn't even know what his cholesterol is (no family history). He just says, "whatever's gonna happen is gonna happen."

I don't think your heart will be as useful after it seizes up.

I still enjoy that you punched a hole in your bed with one of those heads

I still enjoy that a dealership gave me a grand for that vehicle after all I did to it.
