  • Local source for bumper plates?

I found a source online... 510 lbs for $586 but it's another $156 to ship.

    Anyone have a local source?

Rogue Fitness has free shipping to TX but their prices aren't cheap.

Yeah, I'd rather drive to Houston and pick them up from GetRXd to save shipping on that first price I listed.

Rogue wants nearly $200 more for the same weight.

There's a new place called fringesport in North Austin. Closer than Houston. Not sure on their prices. The deal you posted looks pretty cheap from the prices I've seen.

Fringesport includes shipping costs in their pricing. I'd call and ask what you could pick the plates up for.

They're for power lifting so you can just drop the weight if you need to.

I see power lifter just dropping the weight all the time. Is it really that bad to just lower the weight down?

dunno of any places local. best bet is to find someone selling used locally on craigslist or a gym going out of business. most gyms don't have rubber plates so it's gonna be a rare find. and yeah shipping is gonna kill any savings you find online.

try craigslist though, i saw a few people peddling some not so long ago..

but don't cheap out on the bar itself if you're really going to load it with 510 lbs.

i'm guessing it's on a deadlift? yeah they should be controlling the weight while setting it down if they're training for competition, otherwise the lift won't count. either way it's more of a workout to control it while lowering down.

any kind of snatch/clean and jerk is going to see the weight be dropped, but that's a different deal.

I've dropped 765 from 2+feet multiple times with normal weights. Why spend extra?

Failing on a hang clean is more like 4ft. (def less weight though)

Bumpers are wider to spread out the contact force, ergo my floor / mats will appreciate it... Oh and they're not steel.

                            I just want to.

Dropping a deadlift is nothing. Dropping a jerk or a snatch is completely different.
