dunno of any places local. best bet is to find someone selling used locally on craigslist or a gym going out of business. most gyms don't have rubber plates so it's gonna be a rare find. and yeah shipping is gonna kill any savings you find online.
try craigslist though, i saw a few people peddling some not so long ago..
but don't cheap out on the bar itself if you're really going to load it with 510 lbs.
I see power lifter just dropping the weight all the time. Is it really that bad to just lower the weight down?
i'm guessing it's on a deadlift? yeah they should be controlling the weight while setting it down if they're training for competition, otherwise the lift won't count. either way it's more of a workout to control it while lowering down.
any kind of snatch/clean and jerk is going to see the weight be dropped, but that's a different deal.
