I was starting to develop a sharp pain in my right elbow that was getting worse and worse. Turns out the guy I work with had the same issue a few years ago. Pull ups were causing his problems and mine also. I quit doing pull ups and no more elbow pain. I had just started doing pull ups again at the end of last year.

I currently have the same situation with my right elbow. I've been reading about tendonitis and joint pain and found a few things about muscle imbalance of the forearm extensors in pain like this. NSAIDS, ice, rest, etc. should help.
One of the forearm extensor exercises I found online was this:

going to try it out and see if it doesn't decrease the pain and allow for me to get back to lifting quicker
