So yesterday I was at the gym doing shoulders.
A couple of guys, one early 50's another late 30's were doing shoulders too, but had started later than I.
The younger guy was doing 80's, and I know the older guy from the gym and store (seems we work out, and then run into each other while doing errands after the gym), so I said "when you want to step up to the big boy weights, gimme a call"... I was just antagonizing them.
So, the younger guy, who's built like a fireplug, grabs the 80's and goes a round. They are using the chair, which IMHO has a back that is too short. So, with that weight, the guy's neck is bent back over the back of the vertical part of the bench and he's basically doing incline presses.
I dig a little harder and ask if they are doing shoulders, or chest, and of course they get a tad defensive and reply that they are doing shoulders. I told them that it looked more like chest, so they moved over to the incline bench that almost goes up to verticle. I popped of a quick set of 6 with the 90s and the younger guy just had to grab them so I wouldn't show him up. He struggled with the weights, but got 6 half-assed reps in. If I hadn't already done my heavy sets, I would have snatched the 100s to see if his ass was willing to keep playing. I doubt he could have even got them up with as much trouble he had with the 90's.
Oh well, it was fun.
I love going to the gym for the sheer entertainment value. I'm always amazed at the guys that are puffed up bigger than me that can't lift shit, or the guys that load up the bar and don't move it 4".
