Again, I'm saying start this on 2/1. If you've been to the gym this week, then you know why.
I'll be happy to hold the money in escrow.
Someone above said, why cash. Cash is a huge incentive. That being said, as a non participant, I will donate $50 of my own cash to the pot if there are 10 or more participants. I need two more judges to assist on this one though.
I'm willing to donate my own time and money because losing just 30 pounds in one year changed my life a lot. I'll lose 30 more this year at least. It is a wonderful thing to do. I'll be happy to help in anyway I can. I'm not participating in this contest though. All the motivation I need arrives on June 5th, where I'll drown if I'm not in way better shape.
Wish, you are more than welcome to set up a new thread if you like.
All contestants can PM me for e-mail addy which is same for PP.
I do need two more judges who are not participating.
I will also be happy to assist anyone that wants help in the way of links, books, or other things. I will gladly loan out all of my books to competitors.
I also have recommendations besides just photos. Results! Post your results such as improvements in 5K time, weight lifted, max number of push ups, whatever it is that you do. If you're a swimmer, then tell us your swim splits. I'm an engineer and I dig numbers. There is a lot more to fitness than a photo or a weight number. I don't want judges to feel trapped into picking a winner based on weight or photos alone. Honestly, I'm not that great looking, so photos aren't my strength. Some people can lose weight without doing anything, but be in terrible shape. Lots of people don't look super fit but are amazingly athletic.
I also have advice on motivation, and I didn't learn this until last year.
For me fitness was always about playing sports in my youth. It was a natural byproduct. You have to have something to train for besides weight loss or looking good in your clothes or swimsuit (and I still can't do this one yet). One of my wife's friends got us into triathlons. Knowing that you have to physically perform at some date in the future is a huge motivator. My wife's lifelong best friend (since 2nd grade) will be running a 5K with us and her sister and brother in law in 2 weeks. Two months ago she had never run at all.
Set a real concrete fitness goal for yourself that you can achieve and then workouts become easier to do. Motivation is the key.
Also if anyone wants to participate and is out of work or on really tough times, do not let $10 or $20 deter you. I will help you out, if you PM and can convince me you are being genuine.
I say photos should be due on 2/1, and funds by 3/1 and final judging will be done 1st weekend in July or August (5 or 6 months). If you're funds are not received by 3/1 then you are out.

In the past on "DFWS" they would make a new thread and that's where we would each post our information(height, weight, goals, supplements we may use, etc.) Then we would post pictures of as many areas or positions we could, flexed and not flexed. Usually they'd write in there throughout the contest and update how they were doing.
Anyways, I REALLY think if the final judging were to be set in Aug. that would totally defeat the whole thing of "Summer Transformation," but that's just my opinion. But, I'm ready to start this whenever you guys are- I kind of already started but not fully just yet

I completely agree... I think we should keep this thing at 4 months like it has been. It gives a sense of more urgency to get it done. And 4 months is ample time to really show great results for those that are serious about this. Also it would end June, just in time for summer... But it's up to Anthony...

Sounds good to me... Now I have to "man up" and take pictures!
I will judge. As much as I'd like to participate it would be pointless unless doing 5k time comparisons. I also agree that 5-6 months is too long an people will lose interest. I'm in great shape and would still give myself a 10 percent chance of forgetting about it.
If people are allowed to be judged based in running times we will need more rules to prevent cheating.
imo 3 months is definitely enough time to make a big transformation, not so long that people forget about it. im game for either, but feb 1 to may 1 would be my vote.
Are we gonna get any stickies or a new thread making this official? Or are we still delegating on the rules. It would probably be best to make a decision soon so it doesn't fall apart.
