  • hit 246 and after a couple changes i am down to less than 226

for a long time i was doing nothing but drinking budweiser(12pk a night, 2 or 3 times a week) and eating like shit. add that to hardly ever working out and i was slowly packing on the pounds. at first it was funny as i got bigger but then when i hit 246 i said 'oh shit, this aint funny anymore'

i made some small changes all at once and i got results in just a couple months. first thing i did was eat grilled chicken sandwiches any chance i could, also cut out the fries and sodas as much as possible. slowed down my drinking to about 30% of what i used to and when i do drink it's a few shots or a tallboy of bud and that's it. also started riding my bicycle regularly

now one thing i have going for me is that at my job i go up about 25 flights of stairs every shift on average. on busy days it can be as much as 40-50. one day it was really busy, i counted and i climbed almost 80 flights! so from that my thighs/calves are in really good shape for someone who never works out

with just those few things i lost like 20 pounds in just 2 or 3 months, i never really tracked it, just knew what i was at my heaviest. since then i have continued to eat better and ride my bicycle more often. hell last week i rode 3 nights in a row for about 8-10 miles each night. of course that is not a lot to guys that ride a lot but i think that's good for someone who only started riding only a couple months ago

i'm pretty confident that i weigh less than 226 at the moment but i dont have a scale. i don't really have a "goal" weight, but i do wanna completely get ride of my fat face/neck and belly. i also can care less about the weight cause i just feel tons better, not just physically but mentally as well. anyways i dont have any progress pics but i do have one of my bike that i ride on thru east dallas

nothing fancy but it has a good set of gears/shifters and great brakes. also the tires are 700x35c so they have some meat on them and i dont have to worry about 'snake bite' as much

keep tires aired to 100-120 psi and you shouldn't ever get pinch flats.

on the 700x35 it could be different, just look at the sidewall and always check air before every ride.

Good for you! Hell three nights a week by 8-10 is a decent clip and should get you in shape. I lift weights two times every two weeks and ride about 10-13 miiles three to five times every two weeks and it works great for me. I love to ride but get bored at the hour mark so a fourty five minute ride or so is perfect. x2 on the air pressure. Air up once a week to max pressure and you should not have many flats.

You know how I can tell you are getting old???

We ride the same type of bike. When I first rode a hybrid I knew I had to have one. I have made a couple of small trips on it thanks to the Tornado right after I bought it but should be getting more quality time today and in the future. It wont replace my recumbent but will make a nice addition to it. I tried putting some miles on it at about 2a right after I got it and realize how essential a headlight is pretty quick on a bike path.

                That is good to hear!

I am one of those who never works out also, so we recently bought the P90 DVD. Holy cow is all I can say, it is a good work out! My goal is not really to drop weight much (maybe 7 lbs.), but to tone up, I have a beer belly, and I don't even drink anymore! If you want some in home cardio, P90 and The Biggest Loser are pretty good, just finished one of the Biggest Loser cardio workouts tonight for the first time. Got the B L DVD's on Amazon (2 of them) and with shipping it was like $20
