Richardson definatly has tons more stuff. You can spend 2 hours just walking around there.

A tri was on my goal list last year, but I never got around to the swimming aspect of things. I can swim to keep from drowning, but a thing of efficiency, it's not. I plan on changing that this year...just not sure where to start.

I'm up for a group ride...I've ran into Beej out on the road before. I mountain bike mainly, but do road rides for training. Got in 113 mi last week in the iffy at best weather. Still need to pick it up though. Trying to get ready for the "Miles of Discomfort Marathon" at the end of the month. Its a 52 mile mtn bike race. I don't plan on being competitive, but I'd like to finish in the top half riders.

If you do indeed go to RBM, I'll be happy to send you to my guy there. He might even knock of a bit more with a referral. I've bought so much stuff this year from them, they are about to name an aisle after me.....

I have my entire family here in Dallas riding, wife, son, mother in law, aunt in law.... we all ride.

You can save a bit buying from online stores, but the fitting and service RBM provides customers more than makes up the difference.

If I bought everything I have online, I'd probably have saved around $500 by now, but the service aspect more than makes up for anything I would have saved, and I would have been paying for fittings... with a new bike from RBM, you get a free fitting and tune up after 6 months. You can also get a free refit if you drop some weight or don't like the fit etc.

They also have take off seats, tires, pedals, wheels and other parts around you can inquire about when you need or want to try something different.

I'm glad you've had a good experience with RBM. I won't ever step foot in one of their stores again. I vote with my wallet and they've failed in the "3 strikes, you're out" rule I have. They managed to get all 3 strikes in 2 years time. I'll be happy to tell you about it if we get around to a group ride.

Yeah I'll gladly take the name. RBM is where I bought my first 2 bikes from, both from Jim Hoyt personally. Can't really beat it when the owner of the store fixes you up with everything you need. It's been several years since I've been in there so I have no clue how active he is with the store any more.

Anyone bought or shopped at Performance Bikes in Dallas?

The owner and his wife can still be found in RBM. Their dog is also there sometimes.

I go to Glynn there. Tell him if he isn't nice I'll take my business and families business elsewhere. I just bought a felt b16 from him last month. Tell him that and Anthony and he'll know who I am for sure.

I think one if my coworkers uses Performance Bike for all his maintenance and service. He likes them a lot. If it is the same store he is complaining they aren't a Trek shop anymore, mostly Cannondale. I also frequent Oak Cliff Cycles for odds and ends. They have a few nice Bianchis in stick right now and lots of vintage cruisers.

Yes. I've got to go see him in February or March to order my wife a near impossible to find bike. It's not super expensive but you sure can't find them anywhere either.

I'm surprised to hear that. I bought a Trek 1.2 last March just to make sure I wanted to ride. 3 months later they let me trade in my bike for the exact amount I paid for it ($850) and I upgraded to a 2011 Specialized Roubaix. I can't say enough good things about them.

Anyone been getting any good cycling in lately? I'm outta shape, but I did a couple of mountain bike races. Two weekends ago, I did the 4 hr solo down at Solavaca Ranch in Glen Rose. Temp on the starting line was 24 degrees! Fortunately, no wind. I didn't get very far in that 4 hours...only 4 laps (30 miles). I came back in at the 3:45 mark and decided not to start another lap. Last weekend, I did the Miles of Discomfort Marathon down in Comfort, Tx. I was actually moving along pretty good. I got 43 miles in 4 hr and 40 mins. Missed the cutoff to finish the last 11 miles of the race by 10 minutes. I wasn't going slow. I was averaging dang near 10mph on a course with 2k ft of climbing. Kinda mad at the short cutoff times. It was a fun trip though. I'm hoping to get a decent amount of riding in during the upcoming week.

Marc, that is awesome riding! I probably couldn't have kept up that pace on that terrain. And I hate cold!

I've only gotten a few short rides in on weekends lately. I just got an indoor training so I can log some miles while watching mindless stuff on TV.

I'm way behind on my bike and run mileage goals for the year, but way ahead on my swim mileage.
