Diets typically have an end point. Lifestyle changes don't.

You say tomato, he says toe-mat-toe. No big deal people.. move on.

Congrats on your progress! Care to share some more details?

Why do diets have to end? I've never heard that...and the literal definition of diet has nothing to do with limited time span. It actually refers to what you habitually eat.

But hey if changing the name helps y'all, more power to ya!

I'm on a diet right now, 42-4800cal per day.

I'm not sure he doesn't understand. With the few posts there's nothing that discloses your assumption. Dieting is a socially accepted term for following some sort of regiment to control calorie intake.

If he stays on a correct path for the rest of his life, I would not call it a diet either. At least in the way the word diet is typically used. By the definition - food/eating is diet I guess.

I was up to 330 pounds yes really, when it happened my wife told me I was fat I looked in the mirror and sure enough I was super fat... it's now been about 2 months 3 weeks and I've dropped 59 pounds I am down to 271 pounds... my goal atm is 220 after I hit that I may just keep on going a lil bit more...so to all the fat people hoping to lose weight I say quit with dieting and change the way you eat... I would like to thank my son Johnny and my wife Elizabeth 4 all their support... I feel much better than I did and hopefully I can keep on track...
Is exercise a part of your routine? If not, it needs to be.

The body was made to be used, and you cannot maintain good muscle done with a sedintary lifestyle. Just ask veal.

Which is exactly what he's doing. He's controlling his calorie intake by eating healthy therefore creating a calorie deficit on a daily basis leading to weight loss. It seems that his definition of a diet is what most would refer to as a "fad" diet which are designed to see extreme results in very little time and usually result in a rollercoaster of weight loss and gain. The Op is now on a steady diet. A consistent diet that might take a bit more time to lose weight but is overall more healthy and easier to maintain.

I understood exactly what he meant. Are you explaining this for your own benefit?

I know exactly what he's trying to say, and if he has to convince himself that he's not on a diet, good for him. A healthy diet isn't meant to be an inconvenience. Now go pretend to know what you're talking about somewhere else.
