Any runners dealing with this? I learned you have to use the inhaler at least 15min before running or doesnt work as well

A chick i ride with has it. We had problems with it all last year, so she went to a specialist back in Feb he gave her a different inhaler. Haven't had any problems this year except when she is tired and has to climb a large hill. One thing I have noticed is once she has an attack the ride is pretty much over, if she pushes hard again after an attack it happens again.

I have terrible asthma and still train every day, but it does limit me to some degree.
I take a preventative(advair), an inhaler(albuterol), and also use a nebulizer(as my gf likes to call the crack pipe), just to stay afloat.
I don't do a lot of running, but I usually do 1.5 miles of stairs at the end of my 1.5-2hr workout every day.

I used to use my inhaler before I worked out, but once I started using the preventative medicine(advair), I don't have to use the inhaler near as often.Last edited by stangin4lyfe; 10-06-2011, 02:28 PM.

I only have it when I run, high intensity I get a burning down my trachea and cough, but goes away after a few minutes. With the long runs I just wheeze sometimes or chest tightness and wear out before everyone else. When I used the inhaler last long run I stayed with the front of the pack the whole 12miles and didn't feel washed out later or the next day. but yesterday ran 3 miles but only waited about 5 min after the inhaler and didn't help as good but did help some.
