I also think Stangin has the right idea lol. Off to catch a workout!
I agree. In the end, the title of the thread is "What's YOUR definition of the best overall athlete?"

Got an hour before spin class, so I still got 60 to split some hairs! haha! JK

So you CF guys REALLY think the CF athletes are the best? Or are you just saying they're good athletes in general? There's a huge difference, and it goes with the same best at practicing mentallity directed at track stars.

There's no doubt in my mind that it takes athleticism, but not near the best athletes

I only speak for myself. I dont believe CF guys are the best. I do think they are good athletes though.

I will say that from my own personal experience most people who have negative opinions about CF have never tried it or dont understand the principle behind it. I'll stay neutral in that there are also CF guys who think that CF is "the elite" and those type of people annoy me too. lol

my statement was more of an inside joke b/c i made a reference to "fight gone bad". but yes, they should have whooped his ass when he was drunk and making himself look like a clown.

This is a video of the CrossFit workout, Fight Gone Bad. This was done at Tillman Training where CrossFit Cedar Park is located in Cedar Park, Texas. Carson,...

This is what I was shooting for. Yes they're very athletic but no exercise program like CF will ever have the best athletes. Not powerlifters, track stars, etc. It engulfed much more than just mastering techniques.

While fighters OF THE SAME LEVEL all have their days, a poorly trained or practiced fighter will never beat a top pro even on an off day.

I'll agree, which is why the CF people who think they are elite gets on my nerves. The whole principle behind CF is: "....delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing."

then again, its all subjective b/c what makes "the best ahthelte". its all based on what the criteria is.

True story. I also hate when those stupid barefoot runners think running in toe socks or in nothing at all is elite

Hard work will do that to ya haha JK whatever keeps you working out. It's better than 95% of the populations alternative to workout pains (quitting).

And if it makes you feel better I have strongly considered the saucony hattoris. They are a minimalist shoe without the retarded toe pockets. I love lightweight shoes!

I'm up to 6.2miles as of Monday night...yeah, I'm lovin it!!

Hey, if you think it'll help your form, or just not get in the way of it, I'm all for some hattoris! If you wanna see what's out there in a minimalist shoe, here is a link to some quick reference reviews by minimalist folks who do all sorts of running(road, trail, beach, marathon, ultra, etc): http://barefootrunners.org/product-review-list
Personally, I like the way the Merrills look, same sole as the Vibrams, no toe pockets but a decent size toe box and zero drop. Same ground feel as the VFFs, I believe and Lukes Locker has em.

I like my Merrills. I hate toe pockets.

I'm sure some CF guys are in great shape, but they won't be as good as single sport athletes in their specific sports.

I'd agree decatheletes are probably the best overall. It is my favorite summer Olympic event.

The Strikeforce guys are at the hotel where my wife works and I exercise this week. I know they could all whip me in a fight. I also know I could crush most all of them in a bike race though. One of them was on the bike next to me last night.

I'll be doing the 40 mile tour st the tour d Italy in Italy TX tomorrow. You can sign up on site if anyone wants to ride tomorrow.
