1000 a month! Man, have you joined a local farmers coop yet? We get enough veggies for the month for 150 this way and fruit for 3 people. Protein and starches aren't 800+ a month unless you only eat dry aged prime steaks.

My advice is pack lunch for the next day from your dinner leftovers.

      That is a great idea.
How would I go about this?
Can I pick and choose what types of vegetables that I want?
Any good information would be appreciated.

As for the price...man, I eat enough to make people freak out!
I can eat as much as 8lbs of food in one sitting, but usually average about 5-6lbs.
For example, last night...I had two 12oz Tenderloin Filets, 5 pieces of grilled catfish, 1lb of grilled asparagus, 2 cups of Greek yogurt, Cliff's Nutrition Protein bar, 10oz of fresh pineapple, and 8oz of fresh mango.
Let's say I go out to eat somewhere(which I don't because of cost), I easily eat one appetizer, two individual dinners, then go home and eat some yogurt and a protein bar or a protein shake.
I look pregnant afterwards and usually go straight into a food coma!

Ditched the sugar to the maximum extent practical and water with every meal. the prepackaged meals have so much sodium
This is how I do it mostly. I fire up the smoker on sundays and cook a bunch of meat for the week. Low carb is a real b**tch if you do not plan ahead. I have switched to Splenda and wont look back but I only use it in my hot tea and coffea in the morning. I do cheat once a month though so I dont really miss out.

Our local farmers co-op is in Oak Cliff. It's called Urban Acres. If you call them, they can probably steer you to something local to you. You don't get to pick. You get whatever is fresh and available and you pick up 20-30 pounds every two weeks. You get a ton of fruit and veggies. What you get is never the same. You get to challenge yourself to cook things you've never cooked before this way too.

Yes you eat a ton of food apparently. That's more than my wife and I combined. When you add my son, we eat more though.

You need to join a co-op and make friends with a butcher at a small meat market for sure.
